I was thinking that it would be good to have a unique buidling for each faction, a bank, only 1 per faction and can only be built on the homeworld. It would give a bonus to the money that is held in the treasury. Obviously there needs to be more thought around what bonus and how it is applied and how it is affected by politics etc... But you get the idea.

I'm not sure a faction bank would fit into the lore of ST, because supposedly everyone's credits are on a central bank. I could be wrong about this though.

TBH I do not really pay much attention to the lore, I am ignorant to the majority of it. I am interested in the game play. I also feel that lore should not be fixed in stone, it needs to evolve, this is what happens in reality, life progresses, people change, everything evolves or adapts. As for this idea of the bank per faction, well maybe change it to a central bank as you say. Have it required all factions to build a portion of it, same with upgrades. The key idea for me was to provide a bonus on credits stored in the treasury and also to encourage saving/investing.

The universe that the Star Traders see themselves in is one where the Factions are bound by the Law of Shalun. The Templars enforce it, both to keep the peace and to keep the Star Traders safe. Some of these laws, such as the creation of the Central Exchange operated by the Zendu Senate allow for a balance of sorts, so no Faction can control the money supply.

I also feel that lore should not be fixed in stone, it needs to evolve, this is what happens in reality, life progresses, people change, everything evolves or adapts. Lore definitely adapts as the world, people, politics, and technology move forward. However, that isn't an argument to add things to the game that don't fit into the game world. If you followed the argument, you'd have friendly aliens. But then it isn't Star Traders anymore

The lore is the most important thing for me, so we'll stick with what has worked for the past five years. That is to say, Factions all participate in a central bank.

Why doesn't the central bank provide an interest rate?

Why doesn't the central bank provide an interest rate? It does! Just not for Star Traders -- there is a fee for bank use in the lore, but that's not used in the ST RPG game. Maybe in the next one
