Unfortunately, most folks DO judge a book by its cover. What if CK2, a hypothetical at this point, had a more stylized look? I feel it could be done rather cheaply and get a lot more folks into the game by virtue of good looking, nostalgia inducing images on the google play store. Check out the hacking on the old Genesis release of Shadowrun... I think it was a brilliant visual design. And cyberpunk stuff now is outdated a bit, so it has this awesome patina of a forgotten future, which I feel kinda suits bitmapped stuff. But Simplicity would also be totally viable... Cutting costs and devtime while looking pretty nice... Powerhoof.net Ascii animation? Thoughts?

One of the challenges here is the misconception that pixelized art styles are cheaper or more affordable than other traditional types of game artwork. In many cases, they're cost equivalent and in some cases more expensive.
I like the sample artwork you posted, and if we decided to go that way it would be for looks, not dollars.

However, I love the images posted. I particularly love the hacking system in Sega SRun. It definitely inspired some of the design of the CK hacking system!

I know several decent artists, and pixel design is out of their league. An entirely different school really. I would like to see a first person option. Beholderesque.
