Hi all, I just start it playing On my new device, I had this game, I think since it came out, love the new updates, and ships.))). Ok, at the moment, to get the feel of the game , I am playing on normal, ((elite player)) I am a level 12 Military Officer, faction is Cadar, so, I decide to, I dont know the term, so I went pure Cadar, meaning I do only contracts Cadar faction only! I even got my self,a rank Cadar BattleShip with pretty good upgrades, (( I feel like the bad guy in the new star trek movie))) ok, so I go into Military Officer guides, by Cory, great guide by the way. I feel I am playing my Military Officer wrong, I have weapons, and electronics ,some rations, and mosty water, with full crew, I find from my home planets, or the indepent planets. Every faction hate me, I almost banned, but Cadar love me to death!! Lol, so my question to the pros or maybe devs... Am I playing my Military Officer wrong? (((Please excuse my English, I am ESL)))

Although it is honorable to be pure to one faction, it doesn't necessarily mean you should be bad to every other faction. Even Cadar military captains need to have a safe port in other parts of the quadrant from time to time. In saying that, it sounds like you're only in the low negatives for RP with the other factions. I'm guessing in the double-digits? That's very easily recoverable and you can quickly make factions like you again from this point. Multi-Factional approachThe general advice is usually that you work for a couple of factions, avoiding doing anything that will annoy either of them. So if you've chosen Cadar and Thulun (although why Thulun is beyond me) ... then you'd avoid the following: - Trading with Cadar or Thulun if there was a trade embargo between the two factions - Any contracts that would go against the other faction* - Destroying any ships of Cadar or Thulun factions - Attacking privateers (Faction pirates) when there is an alliance between that faction and Cadar or Thulun *Sometimes you get missions to execute or capture an enemy. It's important to use the Surveillance skill if you are a Military officer to make sure that the enemy is not a Cadar or Thulun in disguise. To do this, arrive at the contract destination then do a surveillance action until you gather information about your target. Once you have done this, then take on that target, but if you discover it is a Cadar or Thulun ship, retreat/ignore. Do the surveillance action again and retry the target. Hopefully this time the target will be of a different faction. So how do you get back in positive territory with these other factions? Say you want to be friends with Javat but are -50 in RP. - Wait for a Trade Alliance between Cadar and Javat, and then sell LOTS of restricted items or records to Cadar. The love flows on to Javat and after a half-dozen good trades, you should be in positive territory. - Wait for a Spy War between Javat and another faction. Camp out in that other faction's territory, and do a ton of surveillance work. That'll give you some XP, but more importantly, it'll boost your RP for Javat very quickly. I've gone from -3000RP to +2000 with a very sustained period of surveillance. Of course it was surveilling Steel Song and it's my civic duty to torment them at every turn. - Wait for a Solar war between Javat and another faction. Camp out above that other faction's planet, and do a ton of blockade work. - Go to a Javat Spice Hall and do contracts. Actually, I only put this in for completeness. To be honest, this approach will take ages because you get very little RP from Spice Hall contracts when you are already negative with that faction. Also, often in flying between the start of the contract and the completion of the contract, you stumble across Javat ships who don't like you cos of the -RP, and even if you retreat, you lose RP. The net result is that you end up with more -RP than +RP at the end of the contract. I'm Cadar and only CadarThen again ... if you really only want to do things for Cadar, there is nothing wrong with that approach. It's just harder. You've been on the right track, but it's a hard slog at times. Things you can do to help your path to glory: - Find a good ship - Royal class ships are great, as are Jango's, Vegas, and others. - Make sure your skills are sharp - focus on three: Pilot, Tactics, and to a slightly lesser degree, Stealth. Quickly getting your stealth to level 20 or so should be enough for you until at least level 40. If you start finding yourself getting hit, then start adding to Stealth, but otherwise the best offense is the best offense ... it's not so much a matter of kill or be killed, but rather kill or why wake up in the morning? - Know where you are at all times - it's critical to know here good Cadar planets are (distance wise), and where independent cities are for quick repairs - Sometimes it doesn't hurt to make friends with Javat or Thulun, even if your ultimate plan is to stab them in the back later on. The military ships for these factions are great, and the Javat Cutter is a fantastic beginner ship when you haven't yet unlocked the Honor/Pride ships. It's because of that ship (and their fantastic mining world) that I formed a soft spot for Javat). Have I missed anything? Probably

Wow, thank you Slayernz, You cover all my question, I think my Cadar Military life will be at ease, I am going to take your Cadar advice for the demanding level for sure. I can't find myself playing other factions, my two fav jobs are Military and Bounty hunter , and I hate steel long clan and De Valtos, so on normal setting , I tend to board in the ship a lot and duel. My states at the moment is all 14, skills and attributes. I think I going start being friends with Javat, and Thulin, so I can go back to having a reason to wake up in the morning besides finding ways to destroy other factions in my way, I can't really tell, but The indi's seen to like me, I take missions for them as well, when going after non Cadar factions, lol. I have to stress, thank you so much slayer. Ps, it seem I can't let my Cadar battle cruiser, go, I add some nice up grades, at the moment I can't nothing better, I only own ,2 ships.

In my opinion, you're only playing it wrong as a Cadar when at least 1 non-Cadarian ship failed to get shot with a Torpedo. It doesn't matter if it hits. It's the thought that counts.

If all else fails, join the Cadar. We take care of our own... by taking care of everyone else.

You Guys are Great, I am up, and its time to make some Javat and Thulin friends, for the record, my captain is not a bad guy, he just a loyal to his faction. So I am going to make friends, get good with their military , buy a new ship, upgrade it, and most likey... Shoot them in back... I am playing this Cadar Capt on normal...so this should be fun... I have another Captn on demanding and hard, I realize , even tho I am Cadar loyalists, I have to humble myself, I learn my lesson a independent merchant kill me, I felt hurt, to read my capt is dead, game over. On demanding and hard, it seeem like a good idea to be friends with everyone, till I get it together. On the normal setting , my captn seem to unstopable, I have not been defeat it, looted, jailed. On normal, I take advantage. Now to make friends, and get me a Death Star, *shiftyEyes*

Let them all suck torpedo, I say. The only people you should talk to, using your mouth, are the bloodsucking Independants when you have to make some emergency repairs and stock up on WF. Anybody else will get a "Hello, how are you doing?" bumper sticker on my torps.

You Cadarian would probably know the answer. Why are the Da Valtos torpedoes usually that cheap compared to Cadar ones? Are they made of poor quality or is it just big demand in Cadar systems?

Ttake the first three jobs available at your starting faction and if your above a planet when going for the third job, refuel, accept 2 more and complete. It should be enough for the award @ cyber
