I have a few questions. Mainly about awards.
If you unlock an award on a character, does it unlock on all characters?
I am unsure if they do but I do not want to delete my dead characters if so. Also, is it possible to get the 45 island award in the free version?
How can you repair your reputation with pirates?
I don't have very low reputation... Yet, but I want to be able to trade with Buccaneer's.

Too answer your first question, yes, unlocking an award with one character will grant that unlock to all characters, so you can delete dead characters without issue.

The only way I know on increasing pirate rep is by defeating the Kraken, which grants a large rep bonus. Other than that I'm not sure.

That makes sense, although Krakens are a pain. Also, can I find the Grapeshot upgrade in the free version?

I'm not sure. Maybe regular, but I don't think heavy grapeshot. I'd assume you should be able to, but, I'll go play the game really quick, see if I can find it, and see if it is.

Can you change the starting ship on the free version or is that elite version only??? I beat 100 battles and got award but I can not pick another ship when I start another captain.

Elite only. There's a few non unlockable starting ships in elite, then the unlockable ones. However, they're all elite.

Ah OK. So are all award unlocks that Elite only?? I am planning on getting Elite sometime but I would like to know which upgrades I can unlock and use now. Also, you should put in the awards which upgrades can only be used with elite... Just an Idea. Also have to say Cory, awesome job on this game.  Thanks for the help, Nizmo |

Hmm... I know not EVERY unlock is elite... but I think the majority is. Maybe someone should make a list. I would but... hm... [insert viable excuse here], so yeah...
By the way, in the upgrade ship section of the docks, if it says unlock, you don't need elite, just the award, if it says elite, you need elite, if it says elite unlock, you need elite AND the award.
Oh, and the starting ships you get (without unlocks) in elite are the Schooner, Sloop, Sloop of War, and Shadowsail Cutter.
The unlockable ones are the Pirate Marauder, Military Sloop, and Trade Schooner. I'm probably missing one.
