I just bought the game a few hours ago. Yeah I know I said I'd buy it yesterday but be quiet, I had to wait. It's really awesome so far. On to the actual post... so if you have multiple choices for the missions and how to do the mission, does that mean there are multiple endings, depending on your choices? Or are they just different ways of doing the mission, with no real affect on the story? Either way it's actually really cool having choices for that.

Zer0Winds - within a deployment, the multiple choices generally lead to different tactical scenarios. If you make one choice at the beginning, at least another level later the deployment is different because of it. There are optional deploys that you can skip, like the Kaldun Scittering Hive, if you aren't interested. There are not multiple endings in the campaign. After the campaign ends, there is a late-game choice that branches the history of the Cirm Quadrant.

So, if I didn't do the Kaldun Scittering Hive before attacking the palace, can I still do that once I'm finished in the palace? Or have I scuppered myself...

Chaotic Entropy - you pass that mission by if you do not do it before the Palace.

Chaotic Entropy - you pass that mission by if you do not do it before the Palace. Ah... Curses! Would it be worth highlighting when a mission is order critical? A different colour for a mission that needs to be taken there and then to have the option to complete it. Unless I missed something.

Chaotic Entropy - no, there isn't any special ordering. You can do the same thing from the Righteous Fallen if you ignore certain mission offers long enough.

I mean a note along the lines of "X mission will expire if you begin this mission first", or wording the dialogues so that it infers that you need to do X mission before, what I can now assume to be, the primary one. If you get what I mean.

Thanks for the feedback!
Right now, we're also trying to make the story line flow and the dialog match that. Replaying to get missions you missed the first time around ... nothing wrong with that. That's why we put so many hours into New Game Plus.

I think any hidden, optional, secret storyline elements have a potential to be disappointing or frustrating when missed.
This is also a driving factor for replay, making the knowledge and skill at the game, and navigating the story, part of the replay meta.

I like the way you can miss that stuff, then replay on new game plus and play them then.

Zer0Winds - thanks for the feedback! It's a balance between the two for sure.

I may be wrong, but I think the scittering hive at Kaldun is the only time this happens. The Ferrari Lance branch changes the levels you face, but you don't miss any deployments. The only other branch I can think of is with Tarquin requesting you at Galantia vs. staying in orbit and dropping only when Xeno make landfall. If I remember right, you don't get as many missions as you do honoring the jerk...I mean, good princes, request. Now that it hits me, I'm going to check back to ntsheep play guide and see if this is covered. If you haven't checked out sheeps guide I highly recommend it, just a wealth of info, as well as tips to avoid frustration! Fire and steel!
