We've lost contact with the Durandal, a high class Steel Song Warship... Last seen headed toward Cadar Prime. Signal went dead within a few AU of Cadar Prime. Presumed shot down by Cadar.
Start Log ---------
My name is Volk, I'm a crew member of the Durandal... the captain is dead. Xeno boarded our ship, killed half the crew. The officers are dead, the survivors are scared... the ship is drifting toward the end of known space. I'm the senior member of the crew, and as such, I've taken command of the survivors. The Xeno are still on this ship... We need to see about reactivating the power. Maybe then we can reboot the defense systems.
Volk, signing out
------- End Log
Volk: "Listen, I'm heading toward the power reactor, to see if I can get it online. If so, we're reactivating the defense systems. I need an mechanic to help me."
Meryl: "I'll help. I can reboot the power, but the Xeno are out there... we've been hearing them for awhile now... how can we stand up to them?"
Volk: "Hopefully we won't be spotted. That's why we're not all going... just the two of us should help keep hidden."

The Cadar Syndicate are denying involvement with the disappearance of the Durandal. Whether they're to be trusted is uncertain. There is a low chance of an independent pirate, or the Xeno having attacked. Even lower chance that De Valtos ambushed them. Seems they're still mad about the blockade.
Log ----
The corridors of this ship are infested with these things. Meryl and I had a hard time getting near the power reactor... which was all for naught. The door into the reactor room is jammed... there's no busting through without attracting the Xeno. We're no match for a horde. Things are looking bad... emergency power levels are running low, and our communications relay is severely damaged. No calling for help.
End Log -------
Volk: "Damn! The door is jammed."
Meryl: "Is there another way in?"
Volk: "Without attracting all the Xeno in the area? No there's... wait a second..."
Meryl: "What is it?"
Volk: "What about the air vents? Can we get in through there?"
Meryl: "We might... we should get back, I hear them coming."
Volk: "Yeah... I'll check all the vents in the ship, and plan the route."

There's still no contact from the Durandal. Tensions are high, as Cadar and Steel Song are on the verge of war. The Cadar still deny any involvement with it's disappearance. Whether or not they're to be believed is uncertain... however they are the most likely cause of the disappearance.
Log ------ This isn't good. While getting into the power reactor room is our best chance of surviving, we've found there are Xeno in there. We're getting closer to the edge of known space... The closer we get, the less chance of a friendly ship wandering by. That makes me wonder what the Steel Song think... If I remember right, we were in Cadar territory, very close to Cadar Prime. Wonder if there'll be a war. Damn... The emergency power is running dangerously low, and there's no planet in sight. Nothing. No ships pass by, nothing, just the void.
End Log ---------
Volk: "Good news is we can use the ventilation to get into the reactor room... bad news is, it's infested."
Meryl: "How many...?"
Volk: "Let's just say if we try to reboot the power, there'll be a lot of casualties. There's two things we could do... There's multiple air vents, so we could have some people drop in and distract the Xeno... but that brings high risk of casualties, but more likely to succeed in rebooting the power."
Meryl: "And the other option?"
Volk: "...someone can go in alone, and reboot the power, and get out. Less casualties if things go right, higher risk of failure."
Nikolai: "Well, the second option would bring less casualties. But if they get it on, but fail to get out, we still get power, right?"
Volk: "Yes, but the risk is getting the power on. It takes time, time which is scarce in there."
Meryl: "Who would go?"
Nikolai: "I could go. I can hold my own against some alien filth!"
Volk: "No, Nikolai. I'd go."
Meryl: "I think we have our decision... are you sure though?"
Volk: "Yes. I'll go in a minute... I need to prepare..."

There's been debris found. Xeno ships, and parts of the Durandal. However, that didn't stop the war. Cadar barely needed a reason for war, and they got it. Some ships were sent out to search near the debris for the main ship. However, it's unlikely anyone's survived.
Log ------ This might be my final log. I'm heading in to the reactor room to get the power up... if I even can. Even if I do, it'll be very limited. Only Meryl would be able to get it completely running, but I can probably get some of the systems up. I'm taking a big risk with this. This is Volk, of the Durandal... signing off...
End Log ---------
The vents were extremely cramped... and the sounds of the Xeno didn't help. Every corner, Volk would fear a Xeno would be just around it... It was extremely unpleasant, and once at the reactor room... it didn't help. He dropped down into the reactor room, and approached the main computer.
Volk: "Alright... I can get this... I got this far... I just need to activate..."
His whispers were cut off by the growling of the Xeno... and the noise of the reactor rebooting. With all this noise, those things were bound to find him now! Then the screeching... the sound he'd heard only from the opposite side of a wall... He turned to see them... towering, viscous creatures of the void. And they'd spotted him alright... but then... he'd heard something... almost like...

The Durandal was indeed found... in critical condition. Scans showed Xeno aboard... but also survivors. We have no contact with them. Their communications relay was damaged, and their engines in critical condition, so the only options are to board, or to leave them.
The sound Volk had heard... something docked with our ship. That, and defense systems were enabling. Not fast enough. The Xeno were approaching. No matter how he tried avoiding them, they'd appear around the next corner. They've been chasing him for awhile now, and it felt as if trying to get away is impossible. He'd gone through tight corridors, in between different objects, yet, they weren't giving up. Finally he'd gotten to one of the vents, and making sure none of them see him, he'd climbed up into it. He could hear the turrets now. Hopefully communications are up... because he couldn't get the engines on.
Back at the main bridge, the sounds of turrets echoed through the halls. Screeching... but no sign of Volk. He'd successfully got the power up, but he couldn't get the whole thing. The defense systems were on now, but the communications relay was critically damaged. There was no contact. Until the sound of a ship docking with us.
