I like picking other Templar Knight's brains. What are some of the early and mid game gear you like, and why? Perhaps a note on your style of play, if it influences gear choices.
I'll kick it off with one of my faves you can get very early:
Adept Ocular: +5% critical hits, Captain or Paladin, level 2 gear. I like it because of that sweet damage multiplier when you're still on lower level weapons, and haven't earned many attribute and skill points yet to boost attacks. It's just so satisfying to me when my Captain scores a critical and hits like he's several levels higher!

Aegis gauntlet - 10% autoblock for only +1GP over the standard gauntlet.
I use this exclusively on all non-melee specialist Templars for most of the game so far

Aegis Gauntlet is a great early upgrade. I like anything that gives accuracy for AoE (Soldiers) and Parry for any melee fighters. Snipers get straight damage or MP.

Easily the best gauntlet in the game. I never use anything else... ever, unless I'm going melee on a character, even then I'm hesitant to switch because of the drop in parry.

The perfect 1 point upgrade.

I am also a fan of the 20% auto-block relic gauntlet
