Does anyone actually use this? The armour and deflection bonuses seem nice but I'm not sure if I could handle reduced speed. Was there something about it giving bonus heat reduction? Had a search but can't find the thread. Cheers

I don't touch the stuff. Mobility is by far the most important think for me in this game, so -MP gear is completely useless.
There are two classes I've thought about using it on: Berserk uber tank and an Incinerate Hydra with close range weaponry at the front of the charge. Never actually done it, but I've thought about it.

I do want to try beserks but they always seem a little fragile compared to the paladin, without the healing. I also don't really want to be fielding 3 melee specialist troops (sword & board captain) as I value overwatch and range too much. Also this may be the first playthrough where I am actually using buffs - for whatever reason I dismissed them as 'unecessary' before - except rallying charge that is.

With the new buff to their counter attack potential, and the right gear and talent spreads they become monsters. There is also a talent which gives them a minor heal, check it out In terms of survivability, Pallys get it, but berserks get stellar defenses and a far higher damage output.

Was there something about it giving bonus heat reduction? Had a search but can't find the thread. -MP Armor (and buffs) has the benefit of soaking Heat better. Any -MP points count as twice as many unused Move Points toward Heat reduction. Since you can't actually use the MP ever (it's been subtracted) this benefit is there every turn, always helping to burn more heat. Will work on getting this into the library next release.

You see... Now I'll actually try them out. Knowing that they burn extra heat, berserks and Neptunes become instantly more viable for my play style.
Thanks for bringing that to light Andrew!

I use them all the time because of the bonuses from Heat.
I just combine it with Rallying Charge

There's been lots of thread where -MP gear and talents have been talked about. As the TB's have said here, you get a great heat bonus from the gear. If you're really worried about the lost MP, just remember MP boosting talents like the captains Pressing Need and soldiers Rallying Charge. Move first, then shoot is always a great idea no matter how many MP's you have to use. Most enemies in the game can only attack you when they're next to you. Distance is one of the greatest defenses in the game.
