Another curious event! I switched to PC in hopes that secret doors, etc. would be more visible on a larger/brighter screen. They are, although I miss the intimacy of playing on my tablet, and the interface feels a bit clunky with mouse and keyboard. I'm still not sure which Heroes platform I prefer overall, though, as not having to deal with heat and battery drain add considerably to the PC column. I don't think those problems are specific to Heroes, but for me Heroes has been a more general trial of Android vs. PC gaming.
Anyway, I experienced my third PC crash this morning, glomming or unglomming, I think. Each crash been in a different place, doing something different so I've not discerned a pattern. What was different this time was the crash report. The first two times I filled in what I was doing and clicked "send" on the crash report that popped up on my screen. This time, when I clicked on the report to fill it in, something about "third attempt" flashed on the screen and it disappeared. Did you receive the first two, sent earlier this week, or were they indeed failed "attempts?"
It doesn't take long to reopen the game, and it's only Heroes that's crashing (it's not taking Steam down with it), so the instability hasn't interfered all that much with my enjoyment of the game, but I thought to mention it here in case you're not receiving the crash dumps.

@imryll - I will check with Cory to see if we have received the dumps. It may be that our crash server was out of commission for the last few days, I've restarted it to be sure.
Can you let me know what UI controls you are using to glom and unglom? Keyboard or mouse? Have you bound custom keys if using the keyboard?

Just to be clear, is that literally your OS go BSOD? Or only app crashes to desktop?

I've yet to make any custom keybinds. In fact, I rarely use the keyboard at all, perhaps because I first played on tablet. I glom and unglom by clicking on the three golden heads.
If it's just that your server is out of commission, I won't worry about it.
Thanks for the reply, Fallen.

A big question to watch for in pattern-seeking on the bug is, what else is going on? Is a hero casting a spell? Auto-buff is mid-go? The crash server is back up, and I will check with Cory to see if we got something. Please report again if it does happen!

I had another crash last night and sent the crash report, but didn't bother filling in the additional info because it seemed a waste if my previous reports disappeared into a black hole. I can't remember exactly what happened immediately before the crash, but it might have been an auto-glom at the end of combat. Strangely, though, when I rebooted some time later (I was feeling a bit discouraged by what was starting to feel like too many crashes), a war hund had returned to life and was looking hungrily at Vraes.
All of my crashes have occurred using the original four characters, this time in the tunnels while escaping Red Hill.
The first crash occurred during a transition from the West Road to Oskahold, which would also have involved auto-unglomming and re-glomming component. When the crash occurred the party was on the West Road heading for the gate. When I rebooted, the party was standing inside Oskahold.
I'm running Windows 10 64-bit on a PC that's maybe 10 months old, with an i7-4790K processor and a GTX 980 video card, that's been stable with other games.

fallen Thanks again for your help. I'm taking a break from HoS, as I'm starting to feel I've run through the prologue and Oskahold once too often, but I'm sure I'll return once I've given it time to feel fresh again. Both the characters and story are engaging, as is the combat, and I really want to know what happens to everyone. Tam's portrait caught my eye on the Playstore and playing the free version hooked me on the game. Then ... on to Steam. Many thanks to you and Cory for hours of enjoyment and your ongoing commitment to making the game as good as it can be.

I hope you'll try the Boost-In feature if you are bored of playing the first episode Nice way to jump right to the start of Episode 2 and level 17 characters.

We get a lot of crashes from pirates -- if you include details like e-mail or just your forum account name, it makes it a LOT easier for me to find (and prioritize) your crash reports.
Reports with e-mails get top priority, the rest we go through in a mix with all the pirate ones.
