Yeah moved up to hard. Lost 6 captains in past three days.
Trying pirate and keeping positive rep with all factions, chasing surplus shortage rumors, can't seem to get that big break to get ahead. Friggin aliens

Aliens appear once you have painstakingly set the stage for your new captain. All factions happy, trade permits, 200k in the bank, second ship, and several planets cached with controlled goods awaiting a shortage rumour.
That's when they sweep in and crush all your hopes and dreams, typically in the lower right corner of free map.

Yeah I've read some of the threads on alien hunting.
Trying to get there but having problems becoming established.
Going to try building strength sky high after maxing pilot and tactics for maximum survivability while I get my foundation going.
First ship my money making escape pod second will be my battle cruiser that is too slow and loaded down to run but destroys everything in its path and scours the galaxy of alien scum that have wasted so much of my time.
Alas I never make it to the battle cruiser.
Furthest ive made it on hard is my money maker
