What is the alternative to Frigid Air in dealing with these archer swarms? Not just with my current party but for future purposes? Also, I have a grey quest marker saying that I should search for the tomb of Silver Cohorts or something like that. Why is it grey - and not yellow like others? Did I miss it, nd now I am ineligible?! I am level 13.5, by the way. If you check their monster detail, you'll see that they hit so hard because they are doing magical damage (mostly earth and ice, but it depends on the Krete tribe). So, finding ways to raise your resistance against these types of Damage will go a long way to helping survive the area. I find, especially on higher difficulties, that it is worth saving up a kit of magical Resistance gear throughout the Episode 1 Act 1, which I can then give to my main tank when we hit the river bed.

The quest is to go to the warm cavern and revisit the tombs there. You can still go back and do it as long as you have not completed the Krete area. I explain Krete archers quite in depth in my walkthrough. You have to hang back 9 spaces and let them run forward, then mob them. The AI almost always moves them first unless something is blocking them. Do not, as Kincaid suggests, CHARGE as that is just going to get you pin cushioned. Most Krete spawns will only have 3 archers max, the exception being savage Krete, who can have up to 6. Those Krete will always be hard btw, the archers are the toughest shooters of any monster type, very defensive, massive damage, crazy range...they bring it all to the table. Quicksilver defense helps Selen, although you should not be getting hit much with her as long as you are moving her away at the end of the turn. Archers are always the main issue of getting through the game. They only get more deadly as the game progresses. Different groups will handle it differently. Generally though you will want someone that can curse the AP of many of them at a range (FF on Vincent should do that) or curse their accuracy (FA Vincent again, both is not overkill btw, later you will need both, although both being on one person can be an issue as you may have to choose between them as he only has 7AP). Your group has ranged nuking from Kyera though (a pretty rare build IMO) which has the advantage, if you are building LS on Vincent, of giving you 2 full range nukes. In a lot of cases you are just going to be able to brute force archer groups to a pulp with both of those nukers. Aw, fug. I am past the Krete guys and down to where the humans are; I am level 14. Is this too late? By the way, the humans are really easy. A welcome break.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the tip. Once again, this game feels like an MMORPG you play alone

LS 5 should do for Act 1. FA is pulling the teeth from hard hitting ranged attackers in later acts. Playing with such a party will make the game very slow and grindy though. OMG, I ran into Krete archers for the first time, and they hit so freaking hard. Kincaid got hit for 60 at level 13 in one shot! What is the alternative to Frigid Air in dealing with these archer swarms? Not just with my current party but for future purposes? The alternative is AP debuffing and killing them. The River Torrent has wide open terrain. Stay out of their range, AP debuff them with EA, and let them come after you. Once they are close, charge and kill them.

One more question: How can I make Selen more tankier/evasive quickly? She's losing health way too quickly as opposed to Kincaid in general the last few levels... Quicksilver Defense is your friend.

I went back to the tomb for the Silver Cohort and nothing is happening. How much XP did I miss? And any rewards?

I don't think it is too late. Just head back to Oskahold when you have a chance. Just so you get an idea of how strategy against those Krete can help, when I went through that area with my group recently I was hit by 1 Krete archer 1 time (couldn't quite kill him due to a series of misses). While fallen is correct in that they do elemental damage (except for savages) I find that the physical damage is far more threatening (they do up to 80ish physical and only up to 20 ice/earth at that point and you should have 5ish resist which means the elemental damage is accounting for an average of 8-10 of the 50ish damage being inflicted...). Make sure the tomb is the one in the warm cavern in western road. The Lukai one does nothing. It's 200 exp and nothing else.

What does your quest log say? if you can provide details, I am sure we can help. Someone from earlier said that you can't do the quest if you clear the Krete area. Maybe that's why? I killed all the Kretes on Torrent Watershed and was fighting the humans below that area. Does this make me ineligible to complete the quest? When I went back, I had some dialogue on both tombs, but nothing else...

If it said their souls are at peace then it completed and you got the exp. You can check your quest log and it should be updated.

And it still has the grey, not yellow, color. Edit: I mean it's color is different from both ongoing and completed quests.

Hmmm, strangely enough, I got 100 XP twice the third time I went down there And it now shows the quest to be done. Thanks, everyone!
