so my laptop crushed a couple of days ago, which, you guess it, makes me lose all of my files! Even with the back up I created on my computer before the crash, the game still doesn't have my old saves. Before that, I have also created a backup file for heroes of steel (from steam) but I don't know how to link those file to my current game, and with the next update coming, I really don't want to spend 100 hours redoing all the old teams, so please help me!

Did you make any copies to the cloud? Sorry to hear your computer crashed, maybe see if the hard drive can be recovered and your files salvaged?

I already restored the computer with the old files to some old date when my old saves file were at its peak, but for some reasons the game doesn't achknowledge it and just assume that I am new to the game (which means there are no old save files)

tran - you'd want to check C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\HeroesOfSteel.win32 The game does not advertise that it supports Steam cloud. That indicates all players need to plan their own backup solution atm.

If you install Heroes of Steel, open it, and then start copying game files into the folder it won't recognize them. What I would do is look in your backup at the location that fallen indicates. If you find files there, you've got a good backup and we can help you put them into your new location.

I have all the files at the indicated folder (including "core", "data", various "gameregion" and "UserDefaut") but where should I put these in?

also, I have made a new team that shares one of my old team's name, should I delete the new one so that it won't overlap after my game got fixed?

If you have the entire set of old files from the old computer, you should copy the new computer's files out of the way and place the old files in the same folder. You can not mix-and-match pieces of the files. You are taking 100% of the old saved games, or using 100% of the new saved games.

so where should I put the old folders in? The saved games would go into C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\HeroesOfSteel.win32 Just be sure to back up both copies -- old and new -- in case something goes unexpected.
