@imryll - thanks for the suggestions and I am sorry that it is such a downer for you while you play. We'll keep trying to improve and hope we can do better with our next game.

Well, there's clearing the fog sufficiently to find any chests, and there's what I've been doing. For the most part I have been ignoring the value. Sadly for me, it's the internal effect on my play, not that I think I'm scoring badly or that I would care if someone else saw my score, that bothers me, so the number itself is irrelevant. I will say, though that if you're going to penalize rest, perhaps your characters should talk less often about how they're "running ragged" and occasionally say things like, "I think I could go a little further before we rest, if you can" or "One-third spirit should be enough to handle anyone we're likely to meet around that corner." Just sayin' ... Haha, let me guess, there's a tiny edge in fog so you run up to it just to clear the fog, even knowing there's nothing important there..? Yep, that's what I like to do too. On your second point, I felt that way at first too, took a bit of getting used to it and now it doesn't bother me - some of it's due to how quickly monsters scale makes efficiency vs power favor power a bit more than I was expecting at first... Point 3, I don't think the story needs to have score maximizing as part of it -I know I don't play for score, unless of course there's contextual reason for it in the story too, e.g. "They're hot on our trail, we shouldn't stop if we can avoid it." or such... Even so another party member might say "It won't do us any good if we drop dead from exhaustion either." and another "Yes, we should rest to restore our health and spirits if needed, but no more than that.".

fallen Not a sufficient downer to make me stop playing ;-) wascalwywabbit Thanks for the insights and encouragement. The dialogue comment was mostly teasing. I didn't seriously mean they should rewrite the game, but Tam does seem to like her beauty sleep.

Thanks for the feedback. I apologize that your experience with the game has been negative.
We will try to do better next time.

I don't think Imryll is saying his(her?) overall experience is negative, but rather that it niggles at the back of his mind that he's losing score for exploring every corner on foot and other score reducers, even though it's not his focus.

Thank you again, wascalwywabbit, this time for expressing my thoughts more clearly than I apparently did. If I didn't like the game, I wouldn't bother posting about it, but would just move on, figuring that not every game is for me. In this case I thought I was making a rather innocuous suggestion in response to Corey's comment about options. It wasn't my intent to be provoking or even particularly critical. I'm sorry my comments were aggravating.

Legends of Steel will be more awesome, just you wait ((( looks around furtively for Cory to whack him with a newspaper )))

We look past it because, 1: to err is human, 2: they are nice and fun guys, 3: They are busy and 4: they make games we enjoy. Humans tend to have inconsistent sensitivity to perceived criticism, especially in this case where it's been a couple years on... At least they're not insensitive clods! Besides studies show ~half of speech is restating and/or clarifying. *whacks fallen with a newspaper* It better be great! That's the alpha I'm waiting for...
