Is there a built in limit on officers based on base ship or some other constraining factor? Latest game start I decided to replace the Pilot Module on my Guardian Interceptor with another Officer Cabin, had selected a Crew Dog I planned to promote and make a Mechanic so didn't spend his talent point yet. Cabin installed, and left side of status/ship screen shows I have 5/6 officers however right side listing still read Max Officers: 5 and I was unable to promote either the Crew Dog I'd saved or a new hire to Officer. Spent more money and swapped the Officers Quarters for a Scout bridge and shows same as with the quarters i.e. Officers 5/6 83%, Max Officers: 5.
While we're talking about Officer/Crew limits, is it possible to swap another larger module for additional Crew Quarters or is that also limited by the ships base design?

The ship hull gives you the maximums, like max officers and max crew.
We will work on getting these limits to correctly display, and override the component counts where necessary.
We will also need warnings when you try to install extra Officer Cabins or Barracks.
These limits are important for game progression, but aren't very well expressed.
They're also not strictly all enforced here in the alpha phase because you cannot buy new ships.

xdesperado - yes, Max Officers is set by the Hull itself, and then limited by the number of Officer cabins on board. I have taken #ST-3346 to fix the display of max officers in the status, as well as to add a warning to the screen where you are upgrading your ship to warn that you are going to add an officer's cabin that you cannot use. On the question of the crew barracks, yes, you can install more barracks and increase crew size.

And today there is a bug where you can staff your ship with enough barracks to overflow the "Crew Max" Life Support limit.
I think that will be fixed in an upcoming update.

Fixed officer max displays for next. We'll get ship component validation in phase 3, this will just be a rough edge until then.
