Until now I've always had this at E, reasoning that everything else (skills/attr) is pretty much locked in. Then today I find that starting with a higher profession level also increases starting crew levels, which helps a lot with skill checks and saves time in levelling up everyone after the first quick trip

Thanks, I've taken #ST2-3351 on this one -- that we need to make that clear in the profession screen, probably even showing the level of officers & crew.
