If, instead of going for a familiar word, we decided to go for one that isn't commonly used in RPGs, and thus don't come with player expectations, then what we are describing here is How Seasoned is your Captain and Crew. I cannot remember ever hearing 'seasoning' used in a game.

Experience or level could work fine, but I honestly see no problem with Profession. All the other priorities are based on what they effect, so why not profession? The issue we are running into right now is that we are all running around with no info, no tutorial, and no documentation. If we had a tutorial or some kind of documentaion explination why we should care about profession (or skills, or ships, etc.), then there would be no issue.

Ya'll realize that Star Traders RPG was the #3 game globally on Android at one time ... and it did that without any help file, tutorial and no documentation.
