The Prince on planet A gave me a mission to go to planet B and pick up a data cube. Then he gave me a second mission to go to planet B and pick up a data cube.
I went there. I returned. I gave him the first cube. Then 5 days passed, and I gave him the second one. Very silly. I would give him both cubes at once, saying 'here's the cubes you asked me to get for you' if this were real life.
On the other hand, the doctor can do miracles and heal the crew instantaneously, as cannot be done in real life. This modern medtech must really be something! And repairing my ship also seems to take no time, as unreasonable as that seems. I was expecting more of the 'it will take us 3 weeks to even get to your repairs, and another 2 days to do them' which you might try to shorten with a bribe ....

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. The Prince had sent me out to gather five different data cubes and bring them back. Major paydays! Unfortunately, I had to hand them back in one at a time over a period of several weeks.

Okay then, if you are about to make things harder (in terms to meeing a tight schedule), can we also have the option to find out how long the doctor and the shipyard are going to take before we decide if we are going to spend time here doing it?
And will you make things easier, scheduling wise, by letting us drop off all the stuff that Person A wants in one load?

I don't think we can do the load thing -- it doesn't make sense in the game universe at all. You're playing the role of Star Trader.
Maybe we could have an option called like "Dump and Run" that was like "collect 50% of payment and simply throw the package at the contact!"
Something like that maybe will help? If you are like that short on time, I dunno if that would help or not. The big design hedge against that is the very exciting change to expiration really since you don't have a hard stop penalization scale then you really aren't getting hit that hard on the back side? I dunno, that really seems to fit to me. I guess we'll see as we gather more play data.

Dump and Run! I love it! That's part of the legend about the hot dogs and TP that got the Cadar pissed off at me!

I don't think we can do the load thing -- it doesn't make sense in the game universe at all. You're playing the role of Star Trader. I don't see why it doesn't make sense in the game universe. You want the Prince to pay you for 2 things he wanted, which you went and got for him. You have both of the things. It doesn't take any longer to give him 2 cubes rather than 1. If, for reasons of not making Missions too trivial, you want to advance the clock, then the place to do that is where you pick up the mcguffins he wants. You are sitting around on your butt at Marquette because the scientist who is supposed to give you the Prince's data cube still isn't ready with the accursed thing. The time is ticking, your patience is fraying, but it is still not done. But even here, again, if you have 2 things to wait for, and they aren't ready, you wouldn't wait 3 weeks for 1 of them, and then go tell the second supplier that you want another thing, and be told that it will take him 3 more weeks to craft the second thing. You wait for things simultaneously ....

Ok. We will try really hard to tell the Lore story of the Universe as best we can. We will do everything we can to honor that story and make it real for player.
The player got that part of the story in Star Traders RPG, and I am confident I can get them to get it again in ST2.
