This is the second boarding engagement of the fight (Common theme here P) ) Despite selecting 4 people (non fighters) to board, only 3 have actually shown up! Also, both the 'Move' and 'Skip' talents are causing the 'Invalid Position' toast at the top of the screen. As the selected character cannot use her other (shooty) talent, it appears that there is no way out of this fight - apart from escaping that is... Im in a Frontier Liner, fighting a Scout Cutter (Enemy Spy, if that makes a difference)

Check and see if the missing member is already dead. Did he die for the glory of the faction, or is he sulking in the corner somewhere?

OK, so attempting to escape partially fixed the situation. My other crew members can move/fight.
The core issue seems to be the weapon choice restricting ALL talents to the position limits (for pistol, 0-2; for sword 0-1).
This would also explain why the enemy crewman never moves - none of his talent options are considered 'valid' as he is in position 4 and has a sword.

If so then thats a whole new bug - this team was chosen from the 'on station' list based on HP remaining, so I would be surprised if this was the case

Yep repeated boarding actions are completely broken Managed to escape and reboard, now only getting 2 of 4 people in the boarding party. The enemy seem to be sending in different people each time, so they do have enough (at least 3) to put up more of a fight. Sadly the enemeies are all spawning in at the back where my pistols can't reach, and my rifle-toting soldiers never seem to be able to make it through into the fight! Will send a video to see if that makes things clearer

Have had this a few times myself and reported the issue. Believe Cory Trese said he found a bunch of bugs in the boarding combat section and had squashed them for next version.

I think Cory lied about the Xeno not being implemented. Obviously they are munching on the code, to swing the balance in their favor!

Yeah, combats are fixed so that the cascade down to only the front rows.
If the combat engine ever allows a gap to form between crew -- like you see in the screenshot ... that combat has gone off the rails and will not work.
Above someone said the weapon choice restricting ALL talents to the position limits (for pistol, 0-2; for sword 0-1) and I just wanted to point out that isn't true, weapons don't restrict anything at all.
But everything breaks when you get a gap, so it looks like everything is broken but it isn't by weapon type, it is by gap bug.

but hopefully that will help with bug reports.
You should always see empty spaces behind your guys.
You should never be able to move / pin / push back past the last rank.
As your parties shrink, your talent targetting will adjust.
If you see any gaps: Please report as bugs.
If you find any issues that happen when there are no gaps, those are bugs too.
Any behavior when there is gap is "undefined" behavior. We're going to stop gaps from happening, not fix the game to support them.
