Each phase will focus on different areas of the game. In Phase 1, the game includes all of its major systems. However, not all of the systems have their full set of features turned on. For example, trait mutation is completely disabled at this time, however, traits are a vibrant and exciting part of the game. Phase 1 will focus on character creation, the basic trading economy, missions, ship combat, and crew combat. That’s a big list! If you look under your Captain’s log, you can find a list of the Achievements that are already available in the game. We’ve tailored them to the Phase 1 focus areas, and we encourage you to try to achieve them! Thanks to Ozwryx for providing them.

Speaking of traits, does anyone really look at them? I find myself not really focussing on them. Its a bit of a hassle to go though 20 crew looking for say, combat specific traits or whatever when looking for new officers. I just tend to promote the highest level people.

I've only played a little bit, and i'm completely ignoring traits for now. So much to learn. :-)

You can filter for 'fighters' and 'ship ops'. I think we may need more filters. Either that or I need to learn how to stop getting my pilots killed. (or both).

Picking out officers based on traits is probably a more advanced play style. Also, mutation and Trait control systems aren't in, so they're less exciting. but they will be a full on major part of the game when we're done.
