Android 1.0.17 combat crash during boarding

I have a game where during boarding combat with pirates, the game crashed and will not load. Attempting to load that game causes it to crash during the loading and exits the game. Restarting doesn't help. Playing on a Kindle Fire HDX tablet. My ship was trashed health low, and boarding was my only option, but my crew were holding off the pirates, fighting for every drop of fuel-water. I can play and create new games.
