City of the Dead "extra" areas

I've finished off 2/3 of the towers with Seer Lords and I'm just starting to explore the extra areas that aren't directly leading to the final Seer Lord (like the other sections of the Wheel Road). My question is, does it matter what order I do that in? Like if I finish off the final Seer Lord, can I still do the other parts of the city afterward? Or does the rest of the City stop being available for exploration?

I think we'll need fallen or someone deep in HoS land to be 100% certain, but what I recall is that fighting the Seer lords seals with city.

To be safe, I'd explore outside before you go on.

Once you pass into the final tower, you will not be able to return to the rest of the City of the Dead maps for further exploration. So yes, it matters alot

That's what I suspected based on the way the storyline was developing. Either that, or it would just be a matter of walking around collecting treasures with no fighting.
