Starting to get the hang of crew combat and its a lot more fun than expected. Sorry for doubting you during the demo's fallen If I could get a better understanding of how initiative works things should go even smoother. From what I can tell there is an initiative roll before every action, covering all combatants, and the winner then gets to have a go. If I can get my teams initiative high enough then I am assuming that the opposition might not even get to shoot. What affects initiative? Is there a base value that I can modify/develop? How can I find out what the base value is?

bobc - the combat is organized into rounds. At the start of a round, everyone rolls Initiative. Everyone goes in order of Initiative. Then, the round ends and new Initiatives are rolled. Initiative is one big dice equal to average of Wisdom and Quickness (so ... if had 10 Wisdom, 20 Quickness, would be D15) and then +Init bonus you are getting from anywhere (Traits, Talents, Gear). This math is likely to change to be something you can modify more. Glad you are enjoying combat!

Thanks. Couple more key stats to take in to consideration when hiring/firing and promoting.
