I started off with a decent ship. And thanks to some good and lucky missions, I managed to bankroll close to 100k credits. I went in and updated one of my level 1 or 2 missiles/torpedoes all the way up to a level 7 (torpedo dual-laced array).... A nice big jump... from 60-110 damage, to 100-150 (well, maybe not THAT big a jump.. but still should be sizeable) And I can easily say that the damage seems to have barely changed. (and also, to be honest, for a 6-level step-up... A bit bigger boost might be in order perhaps?)
The short of it being, after a decent payout to upgrade.... Doesn't feel like there was really any increase to the damage that I could detect.

Alex Fury - the weapons are rolling significantly higher dice and have a better base damage. It is always hard when it is about your impression of the damage ... Are you sure you're firing the right weapon? Damage is based on the weapon fired.

As I stick to torps as much as possible, yes, I'm sure it's the right ones.

I dunno, I guess people will have to detect damage in their own way. I know that some people prefers Spears in HoS for this very reason. Confirmation bias and how you perceive random numbers will have an impact here.
