hi guys,
ive got a mechanic onboard and it does popup msgs saying repair made etc - but my sails still get a hammering which impacts fuel use
question:do i need to be carrying certain cargo to help with the repairs? or is the amount of sail damage just reduced with mechanic on board?

I believe crystals were used.
Sorry, seldom carry mechanics or first mates to notice (they're jettisoned out in space to make room for more useful officers).

I have used the mechanic,sometimes she works sometimes she gets lazy...not 100% she'l keep the sales repaird.

When you're deeper into the game, you'll find many excuses to fire ol' Sausage-Lips. He's somehow related to Marvel's Apocalypse, I'm sure of that. No love lost there.

slight side topic - what was that thing on the wiki about a special ship that you can put on a planet to create some sort of base? sounds crazy cool imo - is it a coming feature?

I admit the First Officer goes the instant the other 2 slots are full and I want something else. But I LIKE the mechanic for 'run of the mill' roaming around destroying ships. In impossible I can see how some might find the mechanic redundant. You aren't roaming in impossible. You're going from A to B because fuel is so freaking expensive and the enemy captains are tough buggers. The cost of repairing your sails becomes redundant in the face of dying without say a Pilot, an alien hunter for those big alien ship price bags, and whatever other officer of your choice.
