In general these have been better in v1.0.19 but still seeing some issues.
Just made a new Captain and map, was thrilled when I saw that my chosen faction Zenrin ostensibly controlled 4 quadrants making them the largest power in the galaxy for a change. Less thrilled when I took a closer look at my starting quadrant. Has 6 planets good, nice mix of types good, but 4 of those 6 planets are controlled by other factions so Zenrin only owns 2 planets which is horrible for contacts. Since each of the other 4 planets are owned by a different faction even during the initial easy mission phase all the missions offered require jumps and the pay is horrible. My starting Politician contact is Steel Song and offered me 2 jobs, both requiring 2 jumps and both paying $747 for one way deliveries. Obviously going to be doing some trading in home quadrant and see if I can scare up another contact or two offering missions...

I'm glad you're seeing some improvements in v1.0.19 ... at least we are moving in the right direction.
The next update will improve both Faction ownership, starting missions, mission payment and contact faction allocation.
We're also working on improving the economy type generators so that quadrants are more friendly. We're also adding additional planets to many of the maps, and trying to make them easier populate for the generator.
It is going to be a process, and I think even in Phase 3 we're still going to be talking about the map generator. Hopefully we'll be discussing really nuanced things like story conditions and Xeno quadrants, but I think we'll be gathering your feedback (and everyone else's) for as long as this alpha runs.
We just have to keep making them better with every update and keep listening. I know we'll get there.
