It has been interesting reading posts and views from other ship and crew fights, when post-combat, there is a desperate scramble to reach a planet with a doctor before crew leave from heavy wounds or low morale as a result. So just a couple of thoughts..
Are there plans for enhance medical bays which after combat give a 'x' turn failsafe to crew leaving with a cooldown afterwards?
Or suggestion Crew can go on station, patrol or medical bay. While in medical bay their crew attribute/skill/talents are void but their morale/health held in stasis until taken out of medical bay. A medical bay based on level can hold a certain number of crew numbers.
The idea behind this is- example; after a big fight and having 10 critically ill high level crew of choosing which 3 crew to send to medical bay of that current capacity.

vaulkon - thanks, I think this post has some really good suggestions. We've been working on how to make Medical Bays more impactful, and perhaps a passive healing effect after certain events is worthwhile. We've also been looking at passive healing as an event that might come up in travel (Pass your Doctor Save, 3 crew members get Healing). I don't think we will dabble with a status that is about being in the medical bay. That would be a lot of micromanagement that I think we'd like to avoid. But we def agree that Medical Bays need to have better effects. Also, I suggest you take interest in any Talent that gives you things after a ship combat -- there is already a Doctor Talent that can heal a large number of crew after combat. There is the Loyalty Rousing talent that can bump Morale on a large number of crew after combat. Maybe these are too high level atm.

My explorer team would really like it if the Doctor could heal them up when they return to the ship.

I knew it was a bit of wishful thinking to have medical bay as status change. There is potential for various upgrade medical bays for passive buffs on certain situations. I think my suggestion came out of nostalgia. The original Star Trek... They were either on station, patrol or in medical bay. I am now contemplating when recruiting crew firing anyone with a red shirt.

vaulkon - interesting idea, didn't know about the original Star Trek. We'll keep looking at this. I could see how badly damaged folks might be automatically taken out of Station/Patrol and put into the medical bay, but we are being really careful to try to reduce complexity here
