fallen, nice! Glad you like it. I think it would be fun to work with more slang in the ST universe. We have lots of stuff where you guys have already done as much (Spice, vudka, etc.), so why not do a little more? We're planning to include a big term and definition list along with the Lore Book in its final form. Includes a lot of slang as well. Brett Caron's two works of fiction really fleshed out a lot of those areas.

I like Crew Dog or Spacer. They both have that sci-fi feel to them. Space Dog? I like Space Dog. Spacer much like Grav would be a general term used for anyone that spends a great amount of time in space. Space Dog would be the semi derogatory nickname given to those who serve the menial functions aboard ships to differentiate them from the other more highly thought of or specialized jobs. Much like you might refer to farmers as mud hens or miners as moles but would still be more "respectful" in how you refered to other Gravs like merchants etc.

With the general term 'Grav' I am not sure I am going to be able to convince any non Scandinavians that I am a badger ...

in the typo thread we mentioned 'went down with all hands'.
Hmmm. Maybe 'hands' are what we should call Crew Dogs? But I like Crew Dogs -- it's just Crew I don't like.

I like Deckhand — it's straightforward and likely to be understand be most people right off the bat. I lean more toward Spacer just for the ST Universe tie-in. Perhaps we should run a poll at some point? It would still be up to the Devs for final decision, of course.

I think that just tidying up all the 'Crew' references to read 'Crew Dog' as previously suggested is a fine idea, especially with the reachback to ST usage that Brutus Aurelius spotted. After too many warp jumps they are all barking mad anyway!

I like Space Dog, or Deckhand--these won't confuse new players.
Xdesperado makes a good point about Spacer sounding like a more general term, maybe even showing up in a definition of terms and being used in a general way throughout the game.
I think anything with Crew should be out, because it will confuse new players.

If we're using "Dog" as the addition, it has to be "Crew Dogs" for the ST RPG callback I think
