I will see if I can reproduce this. Sorry for the vagueness. Playing on Challenging. I was exploring. I drew the 'you got roaming pirates' card. I am in meleé combat. Two of mine go down , but the rest escape. I get to a screen where one button says something like 'you can leave after looking at the result'. Thought that was what I wanted. Got dumped right back into the combat I had just escaped, all 4 of my away team participating, though 2 members, the ones that went down before, have under 10 HP. Either it was a bug that I got back into combat, or the button that means 'run away! run away!' needs better labelling, or if when you run away, there is a chance the people you are escaping from will catch you, that needs to be mentioned with the button. Too bad no 'torp them from orbit' option ... I think a 'be rescued by your crewmates' option would also be good.

I think a 'be rescued by your crewmates' option would also be good. I like this idea, but not sure how feasible this is, considering your away team is deep in the unknown wilderness. By the time a rescue arrives (assuming they manage to find you at all) they'd be long dead. Speaking of which, exactly how large is the exploration team? I assuming a bunch of people, since others show up to fight if you don't select the OnPatrol people.

Having recently lost both of my pilots to an exploration mission gone terribly wrong, I am tempted to say that the answer to the question of 'who goes exploring' is 'everybody'.

It's a bug ... there is no button that you could have clicked that would dump you back into combat.

Well, unless you somehow ended up with 2 combats in the stack. If you had 2 pending crew combats, you'd escape 1 and end up back in the second, with auto-selected ppl.
If that's what happened, then the bug is in Explorer somehow making two combats.

though 2 members, the ones that went down before, have under 10 HP Is it possible they have the Revenant trait? What's their Fortitude? startraders.gamepedia.com/Traits

though 2 members, the ones that went down before, have under 10 HP Is it possible they have the Revenant trait? What's their Fortitude? startraders.gamepedia.com/TraitsThey both had hidden traits. So I would say, yes, very possible. But then I am remembering their HP after they were hit once, as their fort is always over 10. But I was majorly distracted. How likely that two would both get them, I don't know, the game seems to cluster talents, so I end up with a crew full of storytellers one day, and full of pain resistant sorts the next. (though 9 storytellers at once is some sort of record). I'd never seen that trait in the wild before ... and supposed to be unimplemented ....

Hey fallen. Any chance that traits table can also list how rare a trait is?

Actually now that I think more on it, since it's a Veteran trait, and listed as Not Implemented, I'm probably just looking for patterns where there aren't any. [This must ring a bell, right?]
I think the clustering may be related to the fact that not all Traits are currently available during Alpha.

When Crew are defeated in combat, they take a Death Save test. If they pass, they "bounce" and receive a Morale and Health pool minimum based on Medical Rating + Fortitude scaled by difficulty.
Use the "Crew Status" tab in combat resolution to view who actually died.

If it happens again, I will remember to do this. Problem was, I thought I knew what had happened. 2 guys died. Sometimes they bounce back from that, but mostly not. The being dumped back into combat thing just distracted me from dealing with things in a proper, bug detecting, alpha-testing manner. (Hey, that I was overjoyed to see my level 7 swordsman back alive, and desperate to not have him die a second time .... says something wonderful about this game, no?)
