So just finished deleting all of v1.0.23 and getting v1.0.25 setup. Went through and rebuilt my template including XP at priority E so I could choose both 2nd and 3rd jobs for my Captain only to discover that v1.0.25 has done away with that and I'm back to using only the paired jobs that Cory Trese and fallen have set as their defaults. Any hope that this decision will be reverted in a future version or do I just need to be patient and wait for some future add on that gives me the option of mixing jobs as I see fit? Signed a disipointed former Spy/Commander/Military Officer

It didn't change intentionally. For the next couple of releases we will be focused elsewhere. Not a high priority, but we may look at it again.
We did make a change to starting officers so beginning with higher XP priority is more exciting in v1.0.25

Andrew might have fixed it, it might have gotten fixed as part of a template update or something else. We'll look at again sometime soon.

Bug, fixed for next. Setting Experience to Priority E or D will act differently baesd on your platform and may have odd results.
Also, be sure not to check the Captain Starter Pack checkbox, as this will increase your priority by 1, basically.

Hey don't worry. It's an alpha. Things get put, taken out, put back in. It's all part of testing and I'm pretty sure we're all enjoying it

Thank you for both the quick response/fix and the tip on a possible short term workaround. You guys rock.

I would really ask that if you're trying to maximize your impact as an alpha tester, that you try lots of different strategies and builds. If you're always playing XP Priority E Captains, it will really limit your ability to give us valid feedback about the early game. Once respec features are, XP:E will be a really rare build choice anyway, so I'm not super worried about starting level 0 or 1. I'm glad fallen fixed it, but I hope it isn't your exclusive build.

Well, now that I no longer require a ship that comes with a built-in passenger cabin, I can be a lot more flexible with ship choices, starting now.

Giving it more thought, my post was a bit silly. From xdesperado feedback, we know he's playing a lot of different crews.

Actually most of my initial testing on early versions had XP set at A, last version I had it on D for all but my last Captain as I was unaware that picking E would allow me to choose my second job. My biggest failure as an Alpha tester to date has been that all my Captains have been Spy's Really need to squash that habit and make some non Spy Captains.

It really depends on the platform here.

Well, we do have 300 testers, and I'm sure each person has their preferences. Sometimes you have play something to death to find rare bugs. That said it doesn't hurt to see things with a fresh set of eyes when you're ready to switch professions.
