In the main settlement window, there are three boxes at the bottom right: cargo, date, and credits. It would be nice to be able to click on the cargo box and open the cargo window.

Cool idea.
If those boxes survive and there are still ways to click on things to open the data from the button in details, we could definitely do that.
Can't say either way since none of those will survive the UI re-do, but it is a good idea!
