Will upgrading to higher Mass Engines increase the maximum Mass for my ship? Or just soak more skill?

Will upgrading to higher Mass Engines increase the maximum Mass for my ship? Or just soak more skill? They won't increase the maximum mass of the hull, no. You can install over-mass engines for some benefits, but it is a game of diminishing returns. Engine upgrades are either primarily for efficiency or combat.

I'm guessing safety and efficiency aren't show right now?

I want to board sooner. I am saving my cash for a much bigger engine. Is this the correct approach or am I about to waste my money?

Seems like you want to focus on these skills to close range: o Extreme & Long Range: Navigation, Tactics, Ship Speed, Command o Other Ranges: Pilot, Tactics, Ship Agile, Command For closing, I'd think there would be better ways to goose these skill ship pools than upgrading engines.

My totals are at 185% or above already. I clearly need to buy more ship. But what?
(note, this is a different captain than the one that is at the edge of bankruptcy....)

The challenge with boarding is you need to be good at changing range at long and short range. Pilot and Nav are specific to one or the other range.
I'd look for the upgrade that provide bonuses for range change, I think it was called Velocity Matrix or some such.

Boarding after shredding the enemy ship with Lances is fun. I've inflicted so much radiation damage on the crew that I can chew through them like wet paper
