I started a new captain and grabbed the Frontier Liner. The ship stats say that I can have a max of 5 officers. I am able to promote 3 officers besides myself. 1 + 3 = 4. Ok. But, there are only 3 Officer Cabins. I would think that one of those cabins is the captain's or is it assumed that there will always be a captain's cabin so it is not necessary to show it? So, where do the 3rd and 4th officers sleep? And, if I can have a max of 5 officers, do I need to add another Officer Cabin to be able to promoted a 5th? Again, where will the "extra" officers sleep?

I don't have access to the game right now, but there is a Bridge something-or-other and the Captain sleeps there.

That means that I need to upgrade with another Officer Cabin to get my 5th officer, correct? Am I safe in assuming too, that if I upgrade the ship with a passenger cabin which replaces an officer's cabin and have 4 officers, I will then be over staffed with officers?

Captain stays in the Bridge, other Officers must have Officer Cabins. On the Ship's info of max officer = 5, the captain counts as an officer too.
Yes, you'll need to add an Officer Cabin to get #5. If you replace an existing cabin, I remember someone saying one of your officers will be booted out into the void of space (although I haven't really tried it... I should do that).

We are slowly working through all the component replace cases. If you switch your cargo hold, do you toss the stuff you can't hold anymore? Crew barracks?
I am adding code in for Officer cabins. You will not be allowed to switch out a cabin. You have to dismiss the officer first.

Now I have 2 officer cabins and 4 officers (including the captain). On the initial status screen (where it shows the ship), it says I have 4 of 3 officers and the bar next to it (not sure what you're calling it) reads 133%.

Since we are on that topic, what is supposed to happen when an Officer Cabin gets heavily damaged?
I just lost two Officer Cabins after a Surrender, and now at 5/3 Officers with no creds to do repairs.

Those officers are pissed, but are living in the barracks or sleeping in the halls. Assupmtion is either you'll mutiny soon and game over, or you'll find the money to repair your cabins.

Progressive morale loss, I assume? Damn, this system you two have concocted is just getting more and more impressive...

Want a mutiny? Take away the beds Next update will prevent removing components that will take beds away from folks. Can still happen by Damage, but isn't something you can do deliberately without Dismissing first.

This will cripple folks who will have to turn down escort missions because they cannot mount passenger quarters.

No reason you need to replace/remove officer cabins on ships.

Also you can have more officer cabins than your ship can actually handle which is usefull if you decide you want to change location on the ship. Example my current Captain has relocated all officer cabins on his Paladin Cruiser to the 1st deck along with the Crew quarters, Luxery Passenger Cabin and Medical Bay. Ship starts with a couple of the officer cabins located on deck 2.
