Phone hangs when viewing rumors/contracts

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100
On CM7.1 stable and Siyah 2.1 kernel.

There is a ~33% chance for my phone to completely hang when i am viewing rumours or contracts. It probably happens on Faction conflicts as well but just that i don't spend much time looking at conflicts as i do contracts and rumors.

Sometimes, everything is fine. Sometimes, while i am in the midst of reading a rumor or contract, the phone just hangs. This happens often enough that i would have to reboot my phone about 3-5 times over a 1 hr period of playing. If it was just a force close it wouldnt be so bad, but the phone completely locks up and has to be manually rebooted or battery taken out for it to work.

This happens regardless of whether i am using default Performance settings on CM7.1. I tried tweaking the performance settings but it did not resolve the issue either.

This hanging problem only occurs on the rumor/contracts page so far. Also, none of my other apps would crash the phone.

I really like the game (i bought elite), so having to reboot the phone more than 5x a day is a drag.

There is no way I can fix CM7.1 -- really, the best I can do is offer you a refund. I feel bad about the problems with custom ROMs but there isn't anything I can do.

If you wanted to make a log cat I might be able to locate the CM7.1 defect that is to blame or we could enter a new one. They probably won't fix it for a long while tho.

Hi. I am also using CM7.1 Stable on my Desire and it works fine.

I had similar problems on Oxygen ROM and it was caused by the kernel. Do nandroid backup and try flashing another kernel.

I do not mean to discount the usefulness of custom ROM or even the awesomeness of CM7.

I have CM 7.1 on a Desire and CM 7.0 on a Moto Droid. Both are rock solid for the applications I use on them (and of course, all our games.)

CM is great within the bounds of specific combinations of hardware revisions, kernel versions and releases. Much (~90%) of the CM related support I do is resolved with either a different kernel, an upgrade or a downgrade of CM itself. Almost always in the form of "hey I upgraded and it is gone!"

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I like that the devs reply quickly and are close to the ground. Im not looking for a refund. Will try flashing the kernel!

It's a program that lets you look at the debug logs on your Android phone.

Then you can send them to me (or the CM people) with your bug reports.

Real logcats could be found in Nebraska during yuletide season when people start baking enough logcakes to entice them out of their wooded habitats.
