I am rather confused about what exactly "-10 Component Dmg/Turn" means? In the example below, the negative condition Aftershocks is causing this, which I interpret it as meaning "10 dmg is being done per turn to a random component." But the Talent of Engine Precision also causes this effect. When I initially viewed the description for this Talent on level-up, I had assumed that it meant "the precise operation of the engine will help buffer 10 dmg that might have otherwise occurred (e.g. from a fire)". Or does it mean "the engine is being over-stressed and will suffer 10 dmg per turn"?? If so, I think all cases should just be rewritten as "10 Component Dmg/Turn"

Will re-write to be just 10 positive. Sorry that's confusing. Same thing with -10 Morale / Turn etc.
Yes, this is damage per turn. That includes Engine Precision and other +RP talents -- they all cause some component damage per turn

Yeah, the negative was confusing. Thanks for the clarification.

Is it -10 morale/turn spread over the entire crew?

bookworm21 - we need a better way of explaining the 10 Morale/Turn Dmg. It causes way more than 10 Morale Dmg, to be honest. It is 10 Morale Dmg to a number of crew, which is compounded by the number of crew damaged by any attacks that turn.

So is it the same case for components as well, that any attacked components will suffer an extra 10 damage?
If so, perhaps wording along the lines of Component/Morale damage susceptibility is more reflective of the effect. Of course, you may not have enough room unless the text wraps to next line.

athios - we'll work on making it more clear. Component Damage, Morale Damage, Crew Damage over time are all caused independent of hits. They are all like poison in your ship. If you take hits, they compound the effect.

Clearly a write up of combat mechanics is in orders here ... Let me see if I can find the hours!

Clearly a write up of combat mechanics is in orders here ... Let me see if I can find the hours! Yes ... and also no Part of the run-away popularity of ST RPG is certainly the way the mechanics are structured and shared. We will just have to do our best to be a Star Traders game!!!
