When I'm gazing at the galaxy map, mesmerized by the twinkling stars and the gently rotating position indicator, I find that I have a nearly un-suppressible desire to click on a quadrant and see what happens. Well, nothing happens. Hovering over the quadrant shows me the names of the various planets, but clicking does nothing. What I would like to happen - 1) Click the quadrant and open a view that shows me what would be available to see were I actually in that quadrant. No teleportation. No "see what it looks like without the fog" thing. The quadrant map should open as though I had pressed the "map" button for my current quadrant. Rather like unfolding a map and finding out what the next state over looks like. (For those of you too young to know what "unfolding a map" means....Well....Words just fail me.) Sorry grävling , but there should probably be a back button on this. 2) If I click on the quadrant where I am currently located, just open the quadrant map. This would be a great help primarily when planning how to accomplish 5 missions with 16 hyperjumps to 10 quadrants. Plus, I don't think it unreasonable to assume that a ship's navigational computer should have this sort of information stored somewhere.

I'm fine about there being a back button there. It's not the existence of back buttons I am objecting to, just ones that launch you into orbit when you had no intention of going there ...

grävling, it's not the back button that I object to. I want to be able to enhance information availability. I would rather be able to have the game provide me with an easy to use, intuitive method to access information rather than have to hunt it through various screens or have to develop a separate method of consolidating said information via self-made spreadsheets, databases, photoshopped maps, etc. While making and integrating these things into an interactive website tailored to a particular captain would be very fun to develop, it would also be very tedious having to redo it because your captain got captured, tortured, electrocuted, shot, stabbed, drowned, and made fun of by a Cadar bounty-hunter. My desire is to find information quickly so that I can apply it to the twists and turns of this most wonderful game.

@earthsuit - what will most likely be available is a list of systems and zones that you have visited in these Quadrants.
Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I totally agree. Just showing the map isn't really any good. What you actually want is access to the data. Going out the the map to hover over things is just asking the player to do a bunch of busy work.
That's why we won't add the feature -- because we think it is the wrong way to achieve the end goal.
