I know this is a pretty heft request, but I'm finding I drop captains around lvl 14 because I can't do more to my ship.
I also find it very difficult to start out with a humongous 7k Hull ship on Hard. But the Juror Class is easier to start out.
Maybe allow us to buy the starting ships in game, so that way I can try out the 7k ships once I have enough contacts and missions that pay $30k for the ships upkeep.

Sorry, we will add ship purchasing when we can. It is currently planned for a later stage of the alpha.
We have to follow the priorities in our plan.

ChocoCrowbarI made a bunch of maps until I made one that has lots of nice indie planets selling lots of high priced things that another indie planet needs. This is handling my 'big ships cost too much early' problem on Hard. They still mutiny like mad on me, but perhaps I will learn how to deal with that. I'd send you my map if I could....

Ok, no problem.
I did manage to start a captain up on hard with a Paladin Cruiser, and the extra room for add-ons is very nice.
I don't know if I'd go high right now, since this is the biggest default cargo hold in alpha (50 cargo), so my Merchant/Bounty Hunter captain benefits from it greatly.
Can't wait for that later alpha stage though, to be able to spend all my cash on something other than spice.

I get bored of making new maps on Android, because if the list gets too long I have to wipe the stored data of the app, which also wipes everything else. So I start out a map on a smaller ship, learn some good trade planet locations (because we still can't see from afar what planet has what on android), then start out another game with the main captain. On a side note, smaller quadrants are a godsend to start out on, because the early package shipping missions are fast and don't consume too much fuel, compared to the huge quadrants that sometimes pop up.
