There are a few talents available that improve crew morale and HP after ship combat (such as Medical Ward and Loyalty Rousing) but they rely on winning and capturing your opponent.
I'm playing a merchant courier flying a Scout Ship who specialises in moving dignitaries and high value items, and avoids combat at all costs. My pilots pull-off exceptional manouvers to evade and escape from ships up to four times our displacement, but we still usually catch a couple of torpedoes which can cause crew morale to crash which results in desertions when we make planetfall.
Is there any possibility to broaden the scope of these talents or perhaps introduce one or two new talents, so that crew can recover morale when retreating, recognising the audacity of the gallant escapes and strategic withdrawals made by non-combat captains?

It might have to do with the traits you are cultivating in your crew. The pirate gang I have right now could be always spoiling for a fight, lose morale when we flee combat. Full of brave and risky souls. But the stealth crew in the scout ship I was flying before that, full of wise souls with lots of evasion, sneaky sorts -- they could prefer it when you avoid combat. And some splendid sorts just seem to be less prone to morale changes no matter what you do ...
