If space is really tight, even the ability to mark people as 'of interest' would be useful. I'd like my doctor replacement to save a talent slot at all times for the fateful day when he is needed in his new career and badly needs to be making Doctor Saves with Medical Staff. But it is easy to forget and spend that point, when levelling.

We're adding a feature so you can "Star" crew. We just don't want to offer a half-dozen competing features for organizing Crew and end up confusing people about our intentions.

I know one of the features talked about for final version was a notepad where we could enter comments etc. regarding planets and contacts.
Perhaps have the "star" or whatever on crew link to that notepad so when browsing crew we see the marker telling us we've got a note saved regarding them and possibly have it hotlinked.

I think we're mixing up some of the different features here, there is a Bookmarks system for Zones / Planets.
We'll have the ability to write custom log entries, tied to places / people / things but those are log entries.
We will also be adding ways for players to "Favorite" or "Star" lots of different things in the game.
