There is no nanotechnology in Star Traders universe. Healing is battlefield medicine - drugs, serums, stimulants. Buffs are either the same, teamwork (Calling Shots) or drawing on Zendu memories, or sheer willpower of command (Commander's Confidence).
Storm Surge Relic that allows Neptunes to charge for one turn killing any enemies in a square they can occupy (except for bosses).
A once-per-level crit activator that auto crits every hit for a turn or two.
Ordnance auto-provider. Could be anything really, but the unit would have free access to such-and-such ordnance for the whole level.
These are cool ideas. I think it could be done by having a small portable robot like the Titan Bomb follow the Engineer around so you wouldn't need to be near a TP to resupply. Make it so it can only carry a few things to keep the game balanced.

Oh, maybe we could finally make peace between Hydra's and Neptunes. Give the Neptunes a fire extinguisher (grenade?) that would put out Promethium fires. It would be fun to be able to spray and then cut a path through it to keep moving. Make them work together.
Maybe Relic Ammo that would poison or otherwise debuff an enemy.
Full-auto overwatch for Neptunes. Basically when they overwatch, it would fire a full-auto volley (at whatever level they have it) on the approaching enemy and any one else around, heat would be normal though.
Dial-a-grenade: Would allow a grenadier to simultaneously throw as many grenades as they have left with 1ap.
Axe, Shield, Sword, Armor or Hammer that provides unlimited counter attacks.
Axe, Shield, Sword, Armor or Hammer that auto-counter attacks. Make a shield that does one and a sword that does the other and you'ld have a very happy cappy.
