When I or the enemy is damaged in ship combat, the explosion effect just keeps looping until I choose an action for next turn. I'm pretty sure the explosion effect only happened once a turn back when I played on Kindle.

I can take a look but the game is working correctly regarding combat animations on all test devices, including reference NVidia hardware.
Need specific details about the version and market, etc so I can check to see if you are running and old version or if some hardware issue exists with your specific firmware in the Google bug database.

I too am getting constant damage animation on this tablet. I didn't (and don't) on my phone. v 6.1.27 Hmmm. I seem to have missed the announcement of an update. No surprise, it happens with 6.1.29 as well.

Sounds like an OS bug with Animation. ST RPG only uses the core Android OS animation framework in a very basic way.
Sad to hear that this type of device has bugs like this. I'll search the bug database and see if there is work around.
Honestly, as bugs go this one isn't too bad. Remember when they release Android 4.0 and the explosion sound would cause devices to reboot? LOL

I suspect that another problem we had, that the + and - buttons for selecting number of factions and quadrants in ST2 in Phase 1 did not immediately update, is unrelated, but, well, never hurts to mention. startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/14793/generation-clicking-plus-minus-signsNow that maps are done differently, we won't be seeing this old error, but whatever is causing it might cause problems someplace else.

resistor has an nvidia shield k1, android version 7.0 kernel version 3.10.96+ (same as me) but his is dated Thu Feb 16. I don't know what his Shield version is.

How do I check "Device Version"?
"SHIELD tablet software version" is at "5.1(24.29.404.127)" if that is what you meant.

I now have installed the Thursday Feb 16 update, so I am exactly the same as resistor. And, yes, the looping still happens.
