I got this in one of the first chests in CoD revisited and was extremely excited to see a 1 AP thrown weapon with 4 range! I immediately went back to Walled Braeyshaulm (the forward camps at Ember Lake have no smithing option by the way) to craft it into a thing of beauty and death! Running back, I was picturing the good ol' OP days of 4 range Tamilin wrecking havoc on everything. Put it in the forge, gave the smith a 16 fire/ice/lightning with crit cloak and watched the fire expectantly. He gave me Flashknives back with some ice damage and 3 range! My heart sank! Now I have to live with those crazy Deathkin Spines that dropped earlier (10% crit and 60% crit damage, you guys rock for putting those in!) but I miss my 4 range.

That's rough... but yeah I've had the same thing happen.
Great Vrotta spines? (3ap tks) or whatever also craft into another type altogether.
Below are the TK crafts I've gotten, assassin and great vrotta turned into one those - sorry I've not kept perfect track of inputs.
...throwing knives... Flat Knives: 2ap, 15-24 dmg, 6 acc, 2 parry, +1 mp, +10 ice, 3% crit, +3 stealth, 4% sp drain.
Throwing Knives: 1ap, 12-35 dmg, 6 acc, 2 parr, 3 range, +1 mp, +ice, +8 earth, 4% crit, +4 stealth.
Segmented Knives: 1ap, 25-46, 8acc, 3 parry, 3 range, +1mp, +16 lit, 7% crit, +16% crit dmg.
Vrotta Spines: 29-76 dmg, 8 acc, 5 parry, +4 fire dam, +20 lightning dam, 8% crit, 4% sp drain.
Flash Knives: 1ap, 45-84 dmg, 11 acc, 4 parry, 3 range, +22 ice, 5% crit, +5 stealth. 1ap, 37-72 dmg, 10 acc, 5 parry, 3 range, +1 mp, +22 lit, +16% crit dmg. 1ap, 37-70 dam, 11 acc, 4 parry, 3 range, +1 mp, +120 hp, +22 fire dam, 78% crit dam
Serrated Throwing Knives: 1ap, 45-90 dam, 9 acc, 4 parry, 3 range, +1 mp, +16 ice, 6% crit, +6 stealth. 1ap, 41-86 dam, 10 acc, 4 parry, 3 range, +120 sp, +16 fire, +16 holy, 6% sp drain.
Flayer Spines: 2ap, 35-114 dmg, 12 acc, 4 parry, 4 range, +1 mp, +120 hp, +24 dmg, +74% crit dmg. 2ap, 37-114 dmg, 12 acc, 4 parry, 4 range, +1 mp, +22 ice, 5% crit, +3 dodge, +5 stealth.

I have checked into this, and a lot of other cases of base stats changing, and understand the cause. It is due to the way the thousands of different weapons and armor were layered into the game and there isn't much we can do about it.
We'll keep working to improve, but do expect base stats to change sometimes.
In this case, I fixed the naming issues -- you'll get Flashknives from start to finish now.
