I guess its not working then. The task killer doesn't seem to matter, I've killed it and come back plenty of times. Time matters, it seems to reset after about an hour whether its killed, exited via Home button or it was left running.

Then it is working that is just how your phone is telling the Android OS to treat the application.
There is little point in building applications that fight against the phone -- it never wins.

How about an option from combat to save and exit, either by using the back button or on the combat menu? Like CK? That way we can manually save without having to ask the green robot.

That wasn't the issue I was solving but it might be an option.
The next step after that is multiple saves and other stuff I won't be trying to do for phone compatibility reasons.
I have heard lots and lots of positive feedback about the new patch to TA so I think the main target was hit and I'm happy with the results.
