I ran across a post from back in 2013 that said that boarding is a lot tougher when you get to around level 100. Is this post still valid or has v6 changed this? startradersrpg.proboards.com/post/45174

It is always tougher than gunning as time passes, because cargoed weapons lose their effectiveness. However, you cannot win against an alien 300% your level by gunning. Not consistently.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense. I guess in mid-game or late-game you need to build a hybrid ship and captain in order to survive alien attacks and still be able to have effective guns. I am playing as a BH and reached year 500 on hard until I was rammed by 3 different ships before I could reach my homeworld. I learn something new on every attempt. Oh well, time to try again.

Not really. This game is designed to kill you sooner or later and rather sooner than later The most consistent strategy is gunning, because that always has the same efficiency. But the disadvantage is, you're vulnerable to high level aliens. You can defeat high level aliens through board, if you have high enough warrior. However, the more strength and warrior you have, the less pilot you have and the less pilot you have, the more vulnerable you are to ramming.
