Explorers Leviathan Mechs

I read in the Templar Assault Page that the Leviathan Mechs were used for multiple things, like orbital and gas giant mining...

Can there be an upgrade in this, that helps with exploring planets? Like... Crew(+captain) get Leviathan Mechs to help decrease casualties, and health loss, to be help with exploring more dangerous planets?

@void - I just answered in another thread about Leviathan Mechs. Upgrades like Exo-Crawler and the like are the upgrades you're looking for to put onboard your Star Trader vessel.

You can get a Templar officer to join your crew.
