Shayde is one of my Sniper runners. I have only been concentrating on athletics, stealth, and firearms. Every time I cannot advance those skills, except at 3 or more points per new total value, I train up either dex or str and make the rate go down.
curent stats: body 4 [5] str: 3 athletics: 6 brawling: 0 dex: 3 stealth 5 firearms: 6
mind:2 int: 1 percept: 1 all other right hand side skills 0.
I thought that having athletics and firearms beyond my body was supposed to be impossible?

I belive the help guide says that you cannot raise your str and dex above your body,or your perception and intelligence above your mind, but you may raise your skills as high as you want.
At least that's what I got from it.

That is correct only you pay a highly inflated cost when your skills exceed your attributes

Ah, I misunderstood. And I thought a 2 pts for a skill level was decent. Do those of you who spent lots more on attributes first get to go up levels at fewer than 2 points per?

yes you can pay as low as "new skill rating +1" xp to raise.
so raising 4 to 5 could cost 5.
or, it could cost 10.
or worst case, it could cost 15

The cheapest way to go up is to leave something behind, your character can more easily be the best at str or dex,int or perception. Trying to be equal at both is super expensive. Skillwise you definatly want to raise your stat first if your buying your skill from your high stat such as str over dex...if its your low stat then its reasonable to keep paying the x2 cost..once it hits the x3 cost its probably time to raise the low stat like the dex stat we decided to leave behind(just an example). That's just my opinion. I can't say with confidence that its the best way to go,but it seems like a good idea. With my fave character I have been very stubborn by keeping his stats even 11str 11dex,with matching skills and 7 int and 7 per with matching skills...not cheap, but another character 4 str and 8 dex,3int 7 per....going up a bit faster.
