Do you play pen and paper RPGs? Drop a comment to share what you're playing or what your favorite game was. What genres? Your favorite character ever?

I play pretty much every thing. Just don't get to as much as I use too. No one gets together anymore really. I'm always interested though.

Crazy old mage, reluctant hero, druid, monk ... I like those classic archetypes ... cyberpunk: lone wolf style tech infiltration or team combat types. Supernatural investigating like Project Twilight. Sci-fi was usually a scientist or basic meaty armed grunt.
My all time fav was a Technomage with cybernetic augmentations, both magical and high tech spy.
Unfortunately I can barely muster an hour board game, or the occasional video, usually phone, game binge these days.

Like ntsheep most of my gaming in recent years has been either solo RPGs on PS3/PC or limited online gaming. Would really enjoy a more oldschool RPG gaming experience even if it was an online thing. As for games have played so many P&P RPGs that I probably can't remember them all. Favorites would probably be the WW Storyteller games, Shadowrun and Twilight 2000, with the older AD&D versions getting honorable mention (don't really care for newer version's after Pathfinder.) Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay was also a great RPG but you need the right type of players for it that understand their characters probably aren't going to survive long if they go in with a hack and slash mentality. The Warhammer/Warhammer 40k games are excellent wargames that can include a bit of RPG if you have the right people to play with.

As weird as it sounds, I've never played pen-and-paper myself, but have dozens of hours listening to podcasts of other people playing it. Sad, I know.

I've been in a FFG Star Wars campaign that's on hold right now, and the group is now playing a Shadowrun campaign, both over Roll20. I've also played in and DM'd a D&D campaign, and occasionally play Grimdark Future with a friend on Roll20, which is essentially a 40k ruleset that is simplified and stripped down version of the game.

I wish there was a voting option that said "No, but I would like to try it sometime" because that's what describes me.

Haven't played P&P since the late 80's. Oddly, I stopped when I was at University, when most people start playing. Think I might still have my original set of oddly shaped dice in the attic somewhere, just in case!

Played a ton of different pencil and paper RPGs over the years. My favorite for fantasy is of course the World's Edge system. For a fantasy campaign I enjoyed our forays into the world of Lanowar. My favorite character being an ascendant elven-dragon god on the righteous path to overthrow the evil human Emporer and restore peace between all races even those since forgotten. For sci-fi I am a huge fan of the WEG D6 system (lives on as Open D6). However, Star's Edge of course gains a honorable mention. I just felt when I played with it that Cory Trese was still polishing the transition from a system originally conceived with fantasy mechanics primarily in mind. For a sci-fi campaign I have a lot of fond memories of various 2nd Ed revised WEG Star Wars campaigns. The washed up New Republic intel operative fallen played still brings a big smile to my face when I think of him.

Personally I both play and extensively GM the Shadowrun system 4E and 5E variants weekly. Outside of that, I played Call of Chutulu, DnD (most editions, fave being 3.5e), and so on.
