I was nearly blinded upon waking up. I don't know where I was... But it was bright. There was someone else there... I couldn't tell what he looked like though. He was merely a silhouette, in the white room. He didn't speak. I didn't speak. It was quiet. Too quiet.

After what felt like an eternity, the man spoke. "You are... Zer0, correct?"

I thought a moment, and came to an answer. "I... I am."

"Good. I have some questions for you. Do you remember anything about the last few weeks?"

The last few weeks? What could he be referring to? "I... Don't."

"Think harder."

I strained my mind... The last few weeks... Wait, the last few weeks! There was some battle. A siege. But the details are hard to recall.

"You appear to have remembered something."

"Yes... I remember a siege."

"A siege? On what? What part did you play? Were you attacking or defending?"

"I... Defending... The Steel Fortress."

"From what?"

"I can't remember."

Who was this guy? I'm slowly remembering. A siege on the Steel Fortress. But who, or what was attacking?

"Tell me about the siege. From the beginning. Tell me everything."

Steel Fortress: 0200 Hours

The area was quiet. The ship was docked, the crew loaded the ship up with supplies, and the Captain was in the military base, discussing something. I stood by, on the wall, merely passing the time. The captain got called here, for something of import.

I don't quite remember the time, when the first explosions were heard, but I'd assume, around 0200 Hours. An unknown object, possibly debris coming in from orbit, had crashed into the Fortress. While the Planetary Defense Forces investigated, something worse happened. The actual attack.

I don't know how, but something got onto the surface of this planet, unknown to the Steel Song, and amassed a fighting force. It was too dark to see what exactly was attacking though. If only we knew then what exactly we were faced against. While we increased security, defensive protocols, and issued a quarantine on the planet... It wouldn't be enough for the threat, that grew with every moment spent.

"By my understanding so far, the Defense Forces on the planet were distracted by the debris, in which case, a fighting force amassed to attack the Steel Fortress?"

I nodded slowly. Who was he, and why does he want to know this?

"Could the debris have been a distraction?"

"I don't believe so. The patrol ships in orbit confirmed it to be debris, from a battle moments before."

The man paced back and forth, appearing to be lost in thought. "Who attacked the Fortress?"

I didn't answer. I just looked at the table.

"Who attacked the Fortress?"

I still didn't answer.

"Let's just get this over with. I'll ask again..."

I finally looked at the man. "The ones who attacked..."
