Lich Respawn Issue

Extermination Protocol, smashed my way through the entire level, had the Lich cornered at the last Respawn Node and had it down to 60ish health. 

Destroyed the Node and ended the turn. Message about the Lich still being out there plays, then the Lich attacks and is blocked by Nyra, and is killed by the resulting counterattack. 

Turn begins and the Lich respawns at the same time the level end texts play.

The poor Lich got beat the fudge up on this one, finally. I killed it three times in one turn

Question: do you get exp for killing the Lich more than once?

Can you give a 1, 2, 3 of the exact order of events so I can prevent this? It isn't clear.

1) destroy the last node when the Lich is very low hp
2) end turn and let Lich attack
3) kill Lich on counterattack
4) next turn starts and the Lich will Respawn as if the node is still operational even though the level is ending.
