Still planning to update the Amazon version? I see a link to it in this post but it seems to still be on v5.9.43.

TB didn't join Amazon underground, so Amazon is doing what they can to obstruct any updates on Amazon.

Amazon did make breaking changes to a major API that has prevented us from doing updates for a long time now. We're hoping to resolve it some day, but it isn't a high priority at the moment. On the other hand, Amazon Underground does seem to be shutting down, with Amazon shutting the doors for new devs and apps.

Well apple won't be a very high priority for long too, huawei has taken the sales, so currently Samsung and Huawei are leading the show and ios is dropping sales rapidly, I am not sure what can save Apple from becoming next BlackBerry story, as it is exactly the same thing that's going on...

Huawei devices are high quality though. My tablet has undergone some accidentally rough behavior and survived without a scratch. I even sat on it once and it survived.

Tech savvy people often use Apple products for one reason or another, sometimes for hardware, sometimes software, as well as Google and Microsoft products. Whatever gets the job done.
I myself like Android phones, Apple tablets and Microsoft+Linux pcs, so...
Apple has the financial advantage of an uncannibalized premium priced full hardware/software integration, which as long as they don't screw up too bad will continue retain them loyalty. E.g. Apple buyers stick with Apple products at twice the rate of other brands, even, maybe especially, in the very competitive China... Will they continue to be worth the price..? For some sure, for the masses, they'll go with whatever has the price to features they want, which is mostly Android atm... but mostly low profit margin mid-rangers and below... They're barely beginning matching Apple in premium sales.

Well, if I wanted to go for hardware, I would go for android. The difference between Android and IOS is that hardware-wise the apple devices are seriously overpriced. Just like macbooks and windows laptops... The prices are somewhere different. The only real advantage is that 100% hardware/software integration. On the other hand, it is also a serious drawback, because since Apple is holding a monopoly around its' own products, they can pretty much dictate what they give to their customers and for what price they want, because there is nothing that would force them to drop the price. Also, Apple is known for artificially slowing down older iOS machines through software updates to push you to buy new ones and also give the illusion that the one you bought is so much faster (fortunately it is not too hard, although not legal either, to break through these artificial slowdowns). Well, android is the totally opposite extreme. You have so many brands that aren't even compatible. However, you can still get a high-quality mid-class phone for the price of a low-end iPhone. And as a bonus you have complete control over your OS and can choose if you want to upgrade and how).

Mid range android phones has features that Apple may implement in next 5 years, that's how it has been since the beginning of this competition, tbh I don't like closed projects, I can't live with such hard restrictions as apple has made them, if I had Apple products right now I'd sell them and find more suitable options for my needs like linux or Android based systems...

Hardware wise Apple currently has nothing that would count as top edge, SoC is the best for new kirin 970, cameras well there are many options and the best would be RED which I'd call camera with phone functions, screens are the best for LG(not by quality) and Samsung, fingerprints are better for Huawei and Samsung phones, iris scanner, only available for android, I could go on for a while and say Apple has lost its cutting edge, everything they had invested on is not even top 3 at the moment and I have to say they need a wonder to get back Huawei is not even looking anymore to Apple as they target to overthrow Samsung and with aiming on it they need to destroy the other competitors and Samsung is helping to do that for their own reasons like toping latest IPhones price by 1/4 with their screens...

Apple: Faster single thread processor, always good graphics chip.
Android: Often better multithreaded due to more simpler cores, graphics vary widely between products.
Apple: Usually faster storage, often higher native capacity available.
Android: Usually cheaper storage per gigabyte, sometimes expandable with sd cards.
Apple: No really inexpensive options
Android: Probably more options than healthy for the market ... some are actually decent though.
Apple : Good mid (phones) -hi (tablets) res screens
Android: Screens vary alot, some are much better, at least in the phone space, particularly for niches like VR...
Apple goes cheap on available ram, taking advantage of aggressive software and fast storage, speeds are good though. I strongly disagree with Apple's position on adding adequate RAM, arg!
Android's premium phones extra ram is still often a substantial advantage
Apple: Cameras are good, but not always best, especially recently.
Android: Camera quality varies alot.
As far as Macs go... I've known people that buy macbooks just for the touchpads...
Screens, keyboards, mice these are important hardware too.
