Hi again, I'm starting and here are some questions for which I did'nt find any clarifications in this forum ! - Why does the rep benefit for selling records depend on the faction ? I observed a slower increase in rep for Rychart than for other factions.
- Does morale decrease / increase naturally with time ? or only through events ?
- What is the effect of prison : duration in weeks ? money confiscated ?
- What does affect the ships prices (other than planetary economy) : negotiate skill ? military rank ? faction reputation ?
- At which military rank are the Templar rank ships available ?
- When will ST2 be released and on which platforms ? ;-)
Thanks !

1. rep benefit is RNG related, which can influence it. Also, Rychart are spies, so they aren't really that interested in records. 2. No, only through events. 3. No effect, you always lose 50% of your money regardless of length of your punishment. 4. Nothing, only slight influences by military rank maybe. 5. Templar rank ships? What are these? You only unlock flagships from rank 17 AFAIK. 6. ST2 release date is unknown, since it is still in alpha. It will be released on PC, Android and IOS.

What does RNG stand for ? 3. Fine, but what is the length of the punishment ? it depends on reputation ? 4. I see huge variations depending on planets. Sometimes cheapers than the price list, sometimes twice more expensive. Is that only due to planet economy ? 5. There are Steel Song Templar, Cadar Templar, etc. in the ship list. They are in the "Faction" type, just as the first 4 rank ships and the flagship (for a total of 6 rank ships per faction). But I can't see them and I thought I wasn't ranked enough.

1. Random number generator. The reputation gain is pretty random. However, with big transactions you gain more reputation. 3. Beats me, but yeah, it depends on your negative reputation. 4. Yes, planet economy. You can get very cheap ships from the Thulun up-left planets or Steel song's Xenox planet (that lonely SS planet closer to the middle). 5. I see, these need achievements. Just like Honors of clans/Prides of syndicates. They aren't limited by rank. I hope so at least

I’m lost. Utterly lost. I am trying to figure out if I’m stupid or if there is a lack of intuitive game mechanics here. I’d LOVE a good Starcraft-esque game, but I fly to a planet and have no idea how to interact with it. I try to buy stuff to sell at a profit somewhere else. I feel like I am playing a DOS based game on an iPad and I have no idea what the command line commands are...
The instructions don’t seem to address any of that.
So, that said. Is there any beginner help that would walk someone through the basics? I would love to play this game but I’m not getting the mechanics at all. I suspect I am expecting things to work a certain way and they don’t and I’m not figuring out how they DO work. Any pointing to the right direction for a “for dummies” help guide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

STRPG is a very deep game, and it doesn't have anything resembling a decent tutorial. I'm not sure what specifically about the game you are don't understand, so I don't know what to tell you. Reading the in-game help file might help you, but you've probably already tried that. Perhaps checking out a Let's Play video of the game will help you understand?

Thanks I see that your post is 6mos old and wonder if you're still playing & if you've found your way around? I felt the same way you expressed so fervently just 4 days & 60hrs ago, and today it's one of my favorite games after I studied (yes, you really must study) both the Manual (StF's Forum) and the Steam Discussions in order to fathom the complexity of this wonderful masterpiece. If you wanna newbie friend, check me out in the Discord, my handle is Al Norde.
